Chicago Lincoln Park History
The cornerstone and namesake are the Park; the city preserved the land and called it Lake Park, then redesignated Lincoln Park in 1865 after the death of President Abraham Lincoln. The park is now 1,208 acres of recreational space along the lakefront.
Housing options range from Victorian row houses, vintage co-op and condominium buildings, brick and greystone 2 flats, high-rise buildings, and luxury single-family homes by the city’s premier architects.
Chicago Lincoln Park Restaurants and Shopping
There is a vibrant shopping district along Armitage and Halsted local and larger retailers including Art Effect, Lori’s Shoes, and Top Drawer & Allbirds. There are also great restaurants like Blue Door Farm Stand and Summer House, but if you’re on the east end near the Lincoln Park Zoo, you’ll want to take in the view of downtown the Patio at Cafe Brauer or The Lakefront Restaurant.
