Autumnal Equinox and Chicagohenge
Part of what makes Chicago so approachable is how easy it is to navigate, thanks to our grid system. Since Chicago’s streets line up almost perfectly with the cardinal east and west directions on a compass we’ve got the perfect setting for incredible Instagrammable images to capture the phenomena of the sun rising and setting between the buildings in Chicago. This happens twice a year, at the Autumnal and the Vernal Equinoxes. Some call this Chicagohenge. Whatever you call it, it’s pretty cool!
The best times for viewing Chicagohenge in 2022 are 6:38 am sunrise and 6:47 pm for sunset from Adams Street.
