What makes living in Chicago great is that it’s a big city with a small-town feel because it’s made up of 77 unique neighborhoods, but that’s only part of what makes Chicago great!
#1 Transportation is absolutely excellent! Located in the center of the country – Chicago’s been a transportation hub since the beginning with trains. We’ve got it covered in and out of the city as well as around the city. We’ve also got a terrific road system.
The downside is that we can also experience highway traffic delays, but knowledgeable Chicagoans can still navigate by getting off the expressway.
#2 We’ve got World Class culture. Home to 2 of the World’s Fairs, Chicago’s incredible collection of museums, exhibits, music, and theater rank the city among the best in the country. There is always some activity or event to capture your interest and expand your mind.
The downside is most of the attractions are located downtown, so downtown ends up with you guessed it – traffic. Chicagoans take public trans, ride bikes and walk. Once we walked all the way home from a Bears game!
#3 Affordable lifestyle. The average home prices for Chicago’s Lincoln Park are less than half average home prices for comparable cities like New York City and San Francisco. You get a vibrant city lifestyle on the shoreline of gorgeous Lake Michigan – with easy access around town and to both airports!
The downside is Chicago’s population is just over 2.7M, so some areas are densely populated – though those are mostly near public transportation.
