Ecological stewardship volunteers (formerly the North Pond Gardeners) go beyond gardening— they help our staff create more space for nature to thrive, maintain existing habitat, and enhance the park’s capacity to support diverse wildlife as well as human health and happiness. While our home base remains the North Pond Nature Sanctuary, we’re looking forward to increasing stewardship opportunities from Uptown to Old Town.
You can contribute no matter how dirty you’re willing to get. Workdays are a great way to get outdoors, learn about local ecology, and meet neighbors who share an interest in conservation. EcoStewards participate in field work of all kinds— removing nuisance weeds, sewing seed in the dormant season, and collecting data during BioBlitzes. No prior experience or expertise is needed, just the willingness to get outside and help us. Instructions and supplies are provided.

Long term commitment is not necessary, just RSVP to each workday you plan on attending so we can plan accordingly. RSVP forms are emailed prior to each workday. Volunteers must be 18+
